For the first time in almost two decades, I had a comprehensive gallery exhibition showcasing my latest body of work - "Counter Currents" at the Manor Mill Gallery in Monkton, MD. The show featured 10 of my latest blown glass fish sculptures alongside a curated collection of other fish-related paintings and sculptures from several other local artists. Entitled Counter Currents: The Fish Show, the opening reception was in the first week of September and the exhibition ran until the first week of October.

The show was a big success, beginning with the opening reception which drew a crown of over 200 guests. We sold 4 out of the 10 pieces on display and the exhibition was well-received by the Baltimore and mid-Atlantic art and glass communities. Here is a link to an interview and article in Chesapeake Bay Magazine written about my work in the show, and I have included the full article, written by Katie Ritter, in another blog post.
In addition to the month-long gallery show, there was also a day of fish-related activities and artist demonstrations at the Manor Mill venue, where we participated with Phil Valencia from Valencia Glass to showcase our glassblowing process to a live audience with Mobile Glassblowing Studios outdoor glassblowing equipment, as several other local organizations and artists participated in the comprehensive fish-themed event. Above is a slideshow of some of the sculptures, and to the right is an image from the live demonstration.
